PM Shehbaz orders up to 60% of federal imports through Gwadar Port
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that up to 60% of federal government imports, including wheat and machinery, be routed through Gwadar Port to help accelerate its commercial operations. Highlighting the port’s deep-draft capacity and strategic importance, the prime minister linked Gwadar’s growth with Pakistan’s wider economic development. The government is also investing in Balochistan’s energy infrastructure, including a major initiative to shift thousands of agricultural tube wells to solar power. The measures aim to strengthen Gwadar’s role in trade, logistics and regional connectivity while supporting sustainable development in Balochistan.
