Balochistan Govt approves Rs 28 billion for Gwadar Water Supply
The Balochistan government has approved Rs 28 billion for a major water supply project to address Gwadar’s severe potable water shortage. The plan includes a 160-kilometre pipeline to transport water from Mirani Dam in Turbat to Gwadar and nearby sub-districts, with completion targeted within one year. The Public Health Engineering Department will implement the project. In addition, Rs 150 million has been approved annually for operating the China-aided desalination plant, which is currently supplying water amid ongoing drought conditions and depleted local reservoirs.
